Description
The Gloucester Sch. Esperanto, leading Canadian Sch. Delawana in the 1920 race for the Championship of the North Atlantic. Esperanto won the race and took the silver cup home to Gloucester. This was the last international fishing schooner race wherin both contestants were true working fishing schooners. Later races were contested by schooners that were designed primarilly for racing, not fishing and only made the minimum number of fishing triips to qualify for the race.
