Description
24Jun.1909 - Launching of the fishing vessel "Margaret D" for my grandfather, Capt. John A. Dahlmer at the L.G.Laird Shipyard in Ashtabula, Oh. After launching she was towed to Dunkirk, NY where her masts. pilot house, engine and pilot house were added. Later that summer, Capt. Dahlmer sailed her over 2200 miles to Gloucester, Mass. where she entered the gillnet and mackerel seining fisheries in 1910. She was 63' length with a beam of 15.2' and draft of 7.2ft. She was powered by an 80HP gas screw engine.
She was a highliner in the Gloucester fleet both gillnetting and seining for Mackerel. She ran aground in heavy fog on Milk Island off Rockport, Ma. and was a total loss on Good Friday, 13th., 1913
