Description
A scene from a much more relaxed and simple time before space travel, the internet and today's fast-paced society.
This is a scene I've been wanting to paint for a long time and finally did. It's of Osmond, "Clam" Tucker sitting on his boat which he kept in front of his clam shack home on Clam Alley, off Washington St. in Gloucester, Ma.
He dug his clams on the flats along the Annisquam River and sold them from his landing at Clam Alley. My grandmother often spoke of him. She said he was a fine story-teller and had the best steamer clams on Cape Ann, From two early 1900 photos.
